5 Reasons We Created a Real Estate Investing Course for Doctors

Leti and I have been helping people get started in real estate investing since 2015. 

In all that time, talking to hundreds of “would-be” investors, we have learned a lot. Most people, despite expressing a strong desire to achieve financial freedom through real estate, never take that first step. 

When we look at all of the people who have asked us to refer them to our network of vendors and investor agents, do you know how many actually followed through and bought their first investment property?

Less than one in ten. That means more than 90% of the people we spent hours talking to never did a thing. We applaud all of those who reached out to us because they actually took the first step, which is sometimes the hardest. But why don’t they take that next step? 

Why is it so difficult for people to actually take action? Let’s explore the 5 most common hurdles that keep people from taking those first critical steps toward financial freedom—because they’re the same reasons we created our real estate investing course, Zero to Freedom – Cashflowing Rental Mastery!

 

 

Reason #1: They Don’t Have a Strong Enough “Why”

You need a strong “why” for investing in real estate. Your “why” is your vision of where you want to be once you’ve achieved financial freedom.

Your “why” must be strong enough to sustain the energy it takes to keep taking step after step until you purchase your first investment property!

That’s why our real estate investing course starts with coming up with your “why.” We encourage our students to craft their emotionally compelling “why” and include the details that make it real. They write it down, discuss it with their partners, and share it with everyone! Real estate investors must give their “why” enough feeling and passion to make the outcome they desire real in their minds. 

Your “why” is what will get you through the ups and downs of investing. It’s what will keep you moving forward when you don’t feel like it. It’s what will help you overcome the fears that are holding you back.

So what’s your “why”?

 

 

Reason #2: They don’t have skin in the game

It’s a well-known fact that when you get something for free, you don’t take it as seriously. You don’t have any “skin in the game.” 

People value what they pay for, plain and simple.

We experienced this recently when we won free tickets to a conference. Because we didn’t pay for the tickets, we didn’t think twice about skipping sessions or investing the time to meet with vendors. 

This is in contrast to our investment in Tony Robbins’ Platinum Partnership. When you’re paying $$$,$$$ for a year-long program, you take it seriously! Before COVID we attended as many of the program conferences as possible in person. As a result we’ve made major changes in our businesses, personally, and in our relationships.

Similarly, Leti and I have interacted with thousands of people since we started investing in real estate. We’ve answered questions. As well as helped them pick good markets, and connected them to our network of investor agents. 

Don’t get me wrong, we love meeting new people and helping as much as we can. It’s just disappointing when we later find out that the people we spent hours helping didn’t do anything. Ultimately, we realized that you need skin in the game to spur yourself to take action.

 

 

Reason #3 No One Holds Them Accountable (Our Real Estate Investing Course Helps With This!)

Leti is my accountability partner. She’s the one who calls me out whenever I fail to take action. Most people aren’t as lucky as I am. They don’t have a partner or close friend who calls them out whenever they get stuck. 

Instead, most people are surrounded by people who nurture their suffering through commiseration and help keep them there. Accountability partners don’t do that. They let you feel sorry for yourself for about a minute. Then, they tell you to get up, roll up your sleeves, and solve whatever problem you are facing. 

We realize that most people who have come to us don’t have good accountability partners. Most of your friends and family, while you love them, don’t hold you accountable. They don’t often lift you up and make you better. 

This is one of the main reasons we designed Zero to Freedom to have built-in accountability. 

 

 

Reason #4: They Feel Overwhelmed

We get it. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when thinking about buying and managing rentals. It’s not like picking a stock or passively investing in a multifamily syndication. We’ll be the first to admit that real estate is closer to running a business than “traditional investing.” 

However, the returns from investing in real estate (specifically, cashflowing rentals) far surpass any passive investment. Read this post, to find out how. It’s not just the numbers though. You also have so much more control. You can buy it right. Then, make necessary changes to maximize performance. You can also use the power of leverage (when you take out a loan), and harvest the tax savings. This is how you can achieve financial freedom in less than 5 years with rentals.
