Summary: This is our monthly round-up of blogs, podcasts, and books from physicians and financial experts around the web. From an impactful physician-centered podcast (that may or may not have recently featured yours truly) to a book on how to be a millionaire (love it!), here are our top picks to help expand your financial freedom repertoire this month.
Doctors Unbound
- This podcast, created by Dallas-based anesthesiologist Dr. David Draghinas, features the unbound stories of medical professionals from all over the industry. The goal of Doctors Unbound is to provide the physician community with wisdom and encouragement and stave off that dreaded career burn-out by sharing their journeys– the good, the potential, and harsh realities. Last week, we had the privilege of being featured on the podcast to share our real estate investing journey and talk about how to achieve Fast FIRE. If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out!
Smart Money MD
- Maybe our goal isn’t to own the biggest house or perhaps the fanciest car; instead, we want to know how to save, how to invest, and how to build our wealth. The only way to do that is to look at investing where it makes sense for our ROI, but also saving more than we spend elsewhere. And, as you know, it’s all about mindset. Smart Money MD shares some of the best of us who do their fair share of saving (and spending) where it counts. In their latest post, on exchanging money for time, we get to hone in on a few tips of the money-saving trade. How much does this hit home for you?
Debt Free Dr.
- As the title suggests, this blog is for physicians who are looking to get out of debt by providing them with the resources and tools they need to achieve financial independence—especially as a new doctor tempted to live above his or her means. This is a great resource for physicians who are struggling to be rid of debt or wanting to get into investments—Debt Free Dr. covers a range of investment strategies, along with book reviews, podcast reviews, and interviews. We like “Real Estate Syndication: A Doctor’s Guide to Investing.“ And we think the reason is a bit obvious. 🙂
The Physician Philosopher
- Dr. James Turner, author of The Physician Philosopher’s Guide to Personal Finance, says that the goal of his blog is to help physicians answer the question, “What do I want my life to look like?” Well, most of us have probably asked ourselves that question at some point, which is why we find The Physician Philosopher helpful for those of us who are not only looking at the logistics of financial freedom (which is, of course, extremely important) but the philosophy of it, too. Really enjoyed his latest post on the 10 Tips for New Attending Physicians.
Our Next Life
- This award-winning financial blog was started in 2015 by Tanja Hester to chronicle her and her husband’s journey to early retirement (which they achieved in 2017). Their story is both inspiring for those of us working towards that goal and highly educational for anyone looking to make it one. Tanja is straightforward and transparent about the ins and outs of early retirement, providing realistic and detailed insight while still showing that it is attainable by sharing her own tools for success.
