Summary: Every month, we feature a round-up of physician finance bloggers and podcasters from around the web. These talented individuals are making an impact in the physician finance community. Their expertise help others understand their finances, build passive income streams, and achieve financial freedom. We hope you enjoy this month’s picks!
Money Checkup
The Money Checkup podcast with Anjali Jariwala, CPA, CFP is a physician-focused podcast with a straightforward approach to finance. As a physician spouse who specializes in financial planning for physicians, Anjali offers an informed perspective on maintaining your personal finances and building your investment portfolio.
We recommend checking out any of her recent episodes that address how to navigate your finances during COVID-19. Not only does she address the financial side of planning, but also the mindset side, which is incredibly important in uncertain times. We especially enjoyed her interview with Dr. Amee Dassani on how to cope with stress through mindfulness.
Pivot Points
Bill Yount, founder of Pivot Points and the Financial Literacy Project Facebook group, is on a mission to make financial literacy accessible and adaptable. The Financial Literacy Project is a fantastic community for physicians and high-income professionals looking to further their financial knowledge. If you haven’t joined it yet, you can request to do so here!
Debt Free DDS
Debt Free DDS is all about helping dentists and physicians get out of debt and live the lives they want. From student loan repayment to investing advice, they are a great resource for those who are working to become debt-free.
Not too long ago, we had the opportunity to write a guest post for them on cashflowing rentals, which you can find here. In the post, we discuss the value of having multiple income streams and why we believe cashflowing rentals are the most effective way to build an alternative source of income.
We also suggest that you check out the rest of their content, including their recommended resources. Our course, Zero to Freedom Through Cashflowing Rentals, actually made their list of recommended online courses! If you didn’t get the chance to sign up for the Summer 2020 course, that’s okay! You can join the waitlist and be the first to know when registration opens up again.
Physician NonClinical Careers
Physician NonClinical Careers focuses on physicians who have pivoted into new career paths, fought burnout, or found other unique ways to utilize their specialties. We were recently featured as guests on the podcast with Dr. John Jurica, where we talked about how we turned our passion for real estate into an online course. (And how you can turn a passion into a course, too!)
You can find a variety of unique stories from physicians of all backgrounds who have leveraged their talents. We love the overarching theme of following your passions and creating a career out of what you love. The sky’s the limit, and there are so many avenues for physicians that you may not have known existed!
Physician Philosopher
Anesthesiologist and finance blogger Dr. Jimmy Turner is The Physician Philosopher. His mission is to make financial freedom accessible to physicians, help fight burnout, and promote mental as well as financial well-being. He teaches the foundations as well as the advanced principles, which means that no matter at what level of financial literacy you start, there’s always something you can learn.
He also co-hosts the Money Meets Medicine podcast with our good friend Ryan Inman of Financial Residency, which you can (and should) check out here!
You can also get on the waitlist for his awesome financial freedom course designed especially for physicians, Medical Degree to Financially Free, here.
