Monthly Round-Up: January 2020

debt-free

Summary: Here is our monthly round-up of articles and resources from physicians and financial experts around the web. This month, we’re highlighting some blogs and articles that deal specifically with becoming debt-free. Many of us have debt in some form, but all of us can strive to become debt-free as we pursue financial freedom through real estate investing!

Debt Free DDS

  • Debt Free DDS was started by a dentist who paid off $400,000 of student loan debt in three years. A really impressive feat! However, the lesson of this blog is that if he could do it, so can other dentists and professionals. So he’s bringing his financial knowledge and expertise to the world of debt repayment and financial freedom. What a great resource! You can check out this recent post about knowing your numbers here. The principle is a lot like knowing your real estate investing metrics! No matter what you’re tracking, it’s important to pay attention to the numbers.

Life of a Med Student

  • For those of us who are physicians, we all remember what it was like to be in med school or residency. Can you imagine if we’d had resources like this back then? For those of you who are just starting out in your career, you’re in luck! Life of a Med Student not only has career-specific resources but also financial resources, too. Like this article on smart money moves for new doctors. And if you’re wondering, yes, you can invest in real estate while you’re in med school or residency!

Live Free MD

  • Here’s another debt-free physician to help inspire you to financial freedom! Like Debt Free DDS, this sports medicine physician also paid down $400,000 of student loan debt in 3 months. (Okay, if two bloggers did it, you know it’s possible for you!) His blog is full of practical advice for reaching financial freedom and early retirement. And a lot of the things he talks about can apply to real estate investing, too! Take his article on when the right time to start investing is. It’s a pretty general overview, but it hits almost the exact same points as our article on the right time to start investing in real estate!

The Darwinian Doctor

  • The Darwinian Doctor is a board-certified surgeon who blogs about his “evolution in the areas of personal finance, investing, and real estate.” (What a great metaphor!) This is another physician who had thousands of dollars in student loan debt, but who has committed to becoming debt-free and financially free! He also has a great breakdown of why he chose real estate investing as his vehicle for financial freedom that we think you’ll enjoy!

Hi, we’re Kenji and Leti

we provide coaching and mentorship for doctors and high-income earners

Several years ago, we were newlyweds working as full-time hospitalists. On paper, it looked like we had everything: the prestigious careers, the happy marriage, the luxurious rental home, the cars, etc.

But in reality? Despite having worked for several years, we had very little savings. Despite our high income, we had very little freedom in terms of time or money.

One thing was clear: we had to do something.
