Summary: Here is our monthly round-up of articles and resources from physicians and financial experts around the web. This month, we’re focusing on relationships. Specifically, if you’re a real estate investing couple, how to build a solid foundation in your relationship so you can work together as a real estate investing team. But even if you don’t have a spouse or partner, you’ll find some great overall relationship advice in here, too!
The Life Coach School
You may remember us singing the praises of Brooke Castillo’s Life Coach School in our Mindblowing Podcast Episodes post. That’s because she really is amazing and her podcast is incredibly transformative. Covering topics like money, mindset, and relationships, there’s so much there that you can apply to your love life and your financial life!
We recommend checking out this episode on a relationship concept called the Want Match — it reminds us a lot of some of the things we learned at Tony Robbins’ relationship conference last year!
Wealthy Mom MD
Bonnie Koo of Wealthy Mom MD is a dermatologist and mama committed to achieving financial freedom and empowering fellow women physicians to do the same. Ladies, unite! But not only does she cover topics pertaining to finance, like investing and budgeting, she also dives into marriage and family-related topics, too.
We love this guest post on the importance of investing in your romantic relationships. After all, if you’re going to be successful as a couple in real estate investing, you first have to invest in each other!
His and Her Money
According to their website, His and Her Money is “a journey of how two high school sweethearts fell in love, got married, but were total opposites when it came to handling their finances. Now they’re completely debt-free including their mortgage and they run a six-figure online business.” Couple goals, right? But the important thing here is that they were financial opposites.
Chances are, you and your spouse have some different values when it comes to finances and real estate investing, too. As we learned at the Tony Robbins conference, it’s important to understand that your partner thinks differently than you do (to put it simply). And a good place to start is with this post on avoiding money mistakes in your marriage. These will not only strengthen your relationship but help you as a real estate investing couple, too!
The Savvy Couple
Here’s a couple who paid off $25,000 in under 5 months! Now, they blog about finances and help other couples organize their lives and reach financial freedom. We love how their advice is clear and easy to follow. Also, we thought they did a great job with this quick guide to real estate investing. We love getting into the nitty-gritty of it, but if you’re a couple just starting out in real estate investing, you have to start somewhere!
For further reading, we once dove into why you should invest in real estate with your spouse. That should help cover not only the what, but also the why!
His and Her FI
Here’s another couple who have achieved financial independence together. Now they blog about, in their words, “couple money redefined.” Since couple money involves two people with often very different values working together towards a common goal, it obviously takes a lot more than just getting your numbers together. You have to communicate, inspire each other, and support each other.
This is true for every aspect of your lives as a couple, including real estate investing. That’s why we love this post about how to have couple money talks. Communication really is key!
